maxbet Charlie Austin is eagerly awaiting a return to action to help Southampton in their relegation fight having re-joined first-team training following a "frustrating" injury lay-off.

The Saints striker has been out for three months after tearing his hamstring against Huddersfield at the end of December.

Southampton have won just once in the Premier League during Austin's absence and have slipped into the relegation zone, leading to Mauricio Pellegrino being replaced as manager by Mark Hughes.

Austin, who scored five goals in seven games before the injury, is hopeful of regaining his top form before the end of the season.

He told the Saints' official club website: "It's been a frustrating time. It wasn't like being out for two weeks, it's been 14 weeks now. maxbet

"I was in such good form and that was the hard thing, because I'd had to bide my time for ages to get in. Whilst that was going on, as a team we were underperforming and that's why we're in the situation we are. แทง บอล

"Now I'm back, we've got a big eight weeks and I'll put all my energy into helping the team drive forward to stay in the Premier League.

"It's good to have that light at the end of the tunnel and this is the last tick in the box. It's great to be back with the lads."

New boss Hughes has eight games to save the Saints from the drop and Austin says he is up for the fight.

"You've got to embrace it, as men and as footballers," he said. "We're under a lot of pressure at the moment, don't get me wrong, but we need to push forward.

"I feel there's enough character, talent and work ethic, and with the new coaching staff coming in with new ideas, it's going to really help us." maxbet

Derby 1-0 Fulham: Cameron Jerome heads hosts into slender lead in play-off tie

sbobet777 Cameron Jerome's header handed Derby a 1-0 victory in their play-off semi-final first leg with Fulham on Friday night. Jerome nodded home in the 34th minute at Pride Park after being picked out by a brilliant Craig Forysth cross, and that proved to be enough for Derby to take a slender lead into the second leg at Craven Cottage on Monday. Fulham last failed to score in a Sky Bet Championship encounter on December 16, but they were largely kept at bay by a supreme defensive display from Derby.

Jerome had looked a striker bereft of confidence earlier this year, but he finished the campaign with a flurry of four goals in the last three games and added another against Fulham. Forsyth whipped in a beauty of a cross from the left and Matt Targett was no match for Jerome at the far post, who rose powerfully to head home. Fulham went in search for an equaliser and went agonisingly close to snatching it twice in the space of a minute shortly after half time. sbobet777

First it was Kevin McDonald who rattled the crossbar from the edge of the area, then it was Floyd Ayite who sent a header over from a position where he should have at least hit the target. Tom Cairney also tried his hardest to pull his side level, but Scott Carson was more than equal to his fierce drive from the edge of the area after 65 minutes. Slavisa Jokanovic then made a double change with 15 minutes to go, throwing on Neeskens Kebano and Lucas Piazon for Ryan Sessegnon, who struggled to make an impact all night, and Floyd Ayite, but it made little difference as Derby managed to see out the first half of the tie. sbobet777
